Sworn translations for immigration, visas and residence
Visas, arraigo, family reunification, non-lucrative residence, digital nomad visas… Almost every immigration procedure (extranjería) requires foreign documents translated into Spanish.
Documents usually translated
- Criminal record certificate from the countries where you have lived in recent years.
- Birth and marriage certificates, to prove family ties for reunification or a family member card.
- Degrees and academic transcripts, for student or qualified professional visas.
- Employment contracts, employer certificates and bank statements, to prove income.
- Medical certificate, for permits that require one.
Visas at the consulate
If you apply for your visa at a Spanish consulate in your country, each consulate sets its own requirements. Many ask for the translation into Spanish to be done by a sworn translator; we work remotely, so you can order it from any country and receive it as a PDF.
Apostille and validity
Foreign public documents must carry an apostille or legalisation. Criminal record and medical certificates are usually valid for a short time: have them translated as soon as you get them.
How much does it cost?
Price per language for a one-page document (for example, a certificate with its apostille), translated into or from Spanish, VAT not included:

Longer documents are priced per word: €0.10 for the most common languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese), €0.13 for most others (Romanian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Polish…) and €0.18 for languages with few sworn translators, always subject to the minimum shown in the table. For example, a 750-word document from English into Spanish costs €75 + VAT.

Frequently asked questions
Do bank statements need to be translated?
If they are not in Spanish, normally yes. As they often run to many pages, ask whether a balance certificate from your bank will do: it is shorter and cheaper to translate.
Is a translation into Catalan valid in Catalonia?
For immigration, which is a central government responsibility, the translation must be into Spanish.
Can you translate the whole application at once?
Yes, and it works out cheaper: the minimum applies per order and language, not per document.
