Sworn translation of criminal record certificates
This is the certificate with the tightest deadlines: it is usually valid for only a few months, so it is best to have it translated as soon as you get it. We deliver in one or two working days.
When you need it
- Spanish nationality: the certificate from your country of origin.
- Residence permits and visas: those from the countries where you have lived in recent years.
- Work with minors: foreign nationals must provide the certificate from their own country in addition to the Spanish sex offender register certificate.
- Visas, adoptions and jobs abroad with a Spanish certificate.
Watch the validity
Most authorities only accept certificates issued within the last three months (some, six). Allow time for the apostille, the translation and your appointment: request the certificate, have it apostilled and order the translation from us as soon as you have it.
Apostille or legalisation
Certificates from outside the EU must carry an apostille or consular legalisation, which has to be translated together with the certificate. Many countries issue an electronic certificate with an electronic apostille: we translate those too.
Spanish certificate for use abroad
The Spanish criminal record certificate is issued by the Ministry of Justice (also online). To use it abroad, we translate it into the language of the destination country and tell you whether it needs an apostille.
How much does it cost?

Frequently asked questions
How long does the translation take?
One or two working days with standard delivery. With urgent delivery, the next working day.
Can I have it translated before it is apostilled?
It is not advisable: the translation must include the apostille. If you translate it first, you will have to get the apostille translated afterwards.
Can I use a translation done in my country?
To submit it in Spain, the safest option is a sworn translation by a translator appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC). A translation done abroad usually needs to be legalised in turn.
