Frequently asked questions

What is a sworn translation?

It is an officially valid translation in Spain, signed and stamped by a sworn translator-interpreter appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC), who certifies that it is true to the original.

How much does a sworn translation cost?

It depends on the number of words, the languages and the turnaround. Upload your document to the instant quote and you will see a guide price in one minute. Short documents have a minimum fee per document.

How long does it take?

A short document (a certificate or a diploma) is usually ready in 2–3 working days. For urgent orders we offer express and 24-hour delivery.

Is a sworn translation delivered as an e-signed PDF valid?

Yes. Since Royal Decree 724/2020, sworn translations bearing the translator’s qualified electronic signature are accepted by Spanish public authorities. If the receiving authority asks for paper, we send it by courier.

Do I need to send the original document?

No. A complete, legible scan or photo is enough. The sworn translation is made from that copy and includes it.

Does my document need an apostille?

If it is a foreign public document to be submitted in Spain, it usually needs a Hague apostille or legalisation before it is translated. Tell us in the quote form and we will check it with you.
